HIT: Phone apps for educational purposes

These are the results of my request. I appreciate the time and effort of the contributors.

Hi David,
i sent this to Sonja so you might have received it, but i will send it to you to make sure.

An app which is good for spacial awareness is paperama.
It displays a square piece of paper which needs to be folded to produce the shown shape.
BUT no cutting, need to complete in a set number of folds, gives you a success percentage, (below 80 you fail), If you succeed you go to the next shape which is a bit more difficult.
This app is FREE!

Hi,
Best apps would be screencasting apps. Teachers can screencast how to answer math problems. And students can make their own screencasts to share with their class. Here are screencasting apps and sites http://www.schrockguide.net/screencasting.html
Screencasts are great for revision, teaching concepts or introducing units.

You do not even need apps – screencastomatic is free and easy to use. http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/
It has an online version and also a download version. If using onenote for the screencast, then it has a pencil tool, as does powerpoint. Even better if using a touch tablet with a stylus, to simulate handwriting on a whiteboard. Otherwise, data can be typed. The screencasts can be saved to the LMS, to class folders or to youtube. Creates great enduring resources. Screencasting is quick, and should be easy for anyone who can use powerpoint, as the skills are similar.

Following is a screencast that I created to explain curation and pecha kucha to staff. http://readingpower.wordpress.com/2014/06/15/curation-pecha-kucha-style/

Below are other Maths app type resources that were collected via the curation tool diigo:

Hello everybody,

I am after some guidance here. Have you used, or are you aware of some Phone apps for educational purposes.

We are in a high school – and the request has come from a Maths teacher. However she is willing to explore apps across the range of learning areas and year levels.

I have a couple of suggestions but am greedy for more!!

Of course if I am sent info, I will share back onto the list_serv.
